ONTARIO WILLS & POWER OF ATTORNEYS

At Brar Law Firm, we offer a number of affordable options to give you peace of mind in knowing that your family will be taken care of the way you want. We can provide this through in-office or video conference meetings.

What is a Will?

A Will is a legal document stating what you would like to happen when you die. While you are still alive it has no effect. Surveys have been completed that suggest a majority of Canadian adults do not have signed, legally binding Wills.

Failing to have a legally binding Will can have serious consequences for your loved ones. Once you have passed you will not be able to choose your beneficiaries. Beneficiaries are the individuals  named in your legally binding Will, who you would want to inherit your money, possession, and real estate. In the event you pass without a legally binding Will, the disposition of your estate will follow standard rules created by the government, resulting in the possibility of your money, possession and real estate being given to someone you did not intend to chose.

What is a Power of Attorney?

A Power of Attorney is a written authorization which grants power to another person to make decisions on your behalf. It is in effect while you are still alive, unlike a will, which only takes effect upon your death.
